time to get off my slap happy butt...

so i haven't posted since january and i really have no excuses.  except that life is busy and really hard and sometimes blogging just doesn't seem that important.

so today we are still recovering from the whole family having the flu.  i'm getting used to it.  i spent the day cleaning, disinfecting and sleeping.  mattie was trying to be sweet and helpful last night and loaded the dishwasher.  i told her i would run it later.  so this morning i started it up and began cleaning out the fetted sink.  a few minutes later i noticed ALOT of bubbles on my counter top.  i thought, hmmm...this is strange.  no sooner did i turn and look down at the floor than i did notice a sea of bubbles, which was quickly covering my floor.  good grief.  apparently mattie had put liquid dishsoap in the dishwasher.  that stuff really bubbles.  necessity is the mother of invention...so i used the sudsy water to wash the kitchen floor!  it worked.  pretty well actually.

later we drove to rushford so that jason could pick up the tractor from the shop.  we stopped at a the old mill, where they were selling pumpkins and apples.  the kids each picked out a pumpkin and i got two bags of yummy apples.  i made cinnamon applesauce tonight.  think i'll go have some while it is still warm.

Penguins and Polar Bears.

Seriously.  I live in Minnesota and have for nearly my entire life.  I don't despise winter, in fact, on occasion, I actually enjoy it.  But seriously.  Right now it is -8 degrees.  No, that's not a typo.  That's a negative sign, meaning BELOW zero.  Tonight the actual temperature is supposed to be    -25 degrees.  Are you kidding me?!  Add to that the winds which are gusting up to 20mph that equals out to a whopping -50 wind chill!  Who lives in these kinds of places?  The only living creatures that dwell in these environments are penguins and polar bears.  There's a movie called "8 Below" and it takes place in ANTARCTICA!

Do you know what happens when you go outside when it is 8 degrees below zero?  It hurts to breathe.  Your eyes water and the tears freeze.  Every hair and booger in your nose freezes.  Oh and don't even try to smile.  Talk about tooth sensitivity.

Why do I live here?
